Delete Digg from Your RSS Feed and Breathe Easier

Saturday, August 25th, 2007 | Editorial, Tech | No Comments

How is it, that RSS feed readers have become even more of a nuisance than email for many users? I think it’s because the RSS feeds you subscribe to are feeds that you care about and so you feel a compulsion to stay on top of the feed even though 99% of the time it’s really just a bunch of garbage. In fact, I hate when I have to be offline for more than a few hours because my RSS unread-feed count gets out of control. But what percentage of that is just from the Digg.com feed? I’d say about 90%. I just deleted Digg from my RSS reader and I’m feeling much better now.

The big question I have is why I ever read Digg in the first place. For every one article of interest there were 100 articles of worthless political views, ridiculous fanboy activity, uneducated haters of everything, and most of all, stupid kids who don’t know shit from shit yet act like they have a clue.

Good riddance Digg.com. Maybe I’ll make a “Top-10″ list of some stupid thing that’ll get dugg and you can all come to my site and read about how much I hate you.

Awaiting the First Major iPhone Update

Monday, August 6th, 2007 | Apple | No Comments

The 1.01 “security” update isn’t doing it for me. Regardless of the tiny niceties they added. I need a real update to update some real problems with the iPhone. And I need it to come fast because I’m starting to get really fed up with these problems.

Specific Issues that are driving me crazy:

  1. Copy/Paste - Number one issue and I run into it all the time.
  2. When I get an email with a photo, there’s no way to save the photo to my phone.
  3. I can only email one photo at a time. Why can’t I attach several pictures like a normal email.
  4. I can’t believe there’s no way to select multiple items in a list.
  5. Where are the “Mark all as read” or “Delete All” buttons?
  6. The contacts should be available on the Home Screen. Or even better, the Home Screen should let you customize it with the buttons you use the most. You know, like every other interface Apple has ever created.
  7. Listening to an Audiobook, I can’t switch from normal speed to fast speed without going to the Settings > iPod menu
