Getting the Hits

My parallels video is rocking my world. I’m getting all kinds of crazy links to that page. One might think that was why my queries were so high but, alas, that page resides outside of my blog and isn’t tied to any database. Even though I was getting hundreds of visitors a day to that page, it wasn’t even close to my quota. The queries were coming from spam bastards. I’m disappointed that this is the way of the web. I’m not surprised that it’s happening, just take a look at the state of email. But it still sucks.

And aplus.net can cram it with walnuts. They didn’t even attempt to help.

I’m back on the Wordpress bandwagon. After a brief stint with Expression Engine I’ve come to the conclusion that nothing beats open source and nothing beats free. I’m not sure what happened with my other blog but somehow I was getting over 100,000 SQL queries a day and my web hosting company was none too happy. They were actually jerks about the whole thing so they lost my business. I can’t say for sure if it was my host or Expression Engine but there was no Earthly reason for getting that many queries. No one even visits my site.

Glad to be back with Wordpress though. It’s great software.
